Gender Disparity Among Elementary Educators
The need for more male educators in early education is real. Recent research shows that less than 25% of elementary educators in Ontario are male, and that percentage drop considerably elsewhere. How can we claim to be addressing gender disparity and working to remove obstacles toward equity and diversity when the very institutions tasked with teaching students the worth of such values don't embody them?
With fifteen years of teaching experience abroad and a son beginning school this year, this issue is near and dear to my heart. Below you'll find my completed literature review on gender disparity in early education as well as my upcoming research on this issue.
